Riley’s music journey began in high school when he bought his first bass to join a country band, Stampede. “When I bought my bass I would find myself almost meditating with it; I wasn’t taking any lessons but I had to learn for Stampede so the time I spent with the bass was free and organic. Instead of playing scales, I would play little groove-hooks and that was the start of my vocabulary.” Riley saw great success and progress over the next four years: Opening for names like Dierks Bentley, Andy Griggs and Josh Gracin; two years of playing with the top high school jazz band in the state; and deciding that music was going to be his career path.

To date, Riley is playing in Brazilian 2wins, Flo’Sho, Mary Mo & Her Sweet Notes, and Ozzie and the Checkmates. He has played with Orchestras across Iowa; performed in jazz festivals as far as Boise, Idaho; served as two-year music director for Sissy’s Sircus; performed twice as musician and twice as sound man for a professional theatre; been featured on two albums as well as currently producing his first album for a local band.

“Playing music with the 2wins Band is the highlight of my musical career. Every show is fresh, wild, and spontaneous. I honestly feel we are at that point, waiting for the gig where that right person hears us and then BOOM!–we will get to share our music with so many more people. Until then, we’ll just keep growing as fast as the band can get ears!”
